An interchangeable lens (200) has a driving means (233) for moving a focusing lens (230) in the front-rear direction along the optical axis, a memory means (242) for storing driving method information relating to focusing lens driving methods with which the interchangeable lens is compatible and which are used for auto-focusing control, a transmitting means (250) for transmitting driving method information to a camera body, and a lens controlling means (240) for controlling operation of the interchangeable lens. The camera body (100, 140) determines control for the interchangeable lens by referring to the driving method information obtained from the interchangeable lens and generates a control signal. In auto-focusing control, the lens controlling means (240) of the interchangeable lens controls the driving means according to a driving method instructed by control information received from the camera body.
