PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling apparatus of a rotating electric machine for a vehicle to cool a wide range of the rotating electric machine in the case that the rotating electric machine which is provided inside a case of a drive unit to drive the vehicle and transfers mechanical power between a drive shaft of the vehicle and itself is cooled. SOLUTION: The cooling apparatus which cools the rotating electric machine MG2 which is provided inside the case 2 of the drive unit 1 to drive the vehicle and transfers the mechanical power between the drive shaft of the vehicle and itself is provided with a pathway portion 51 of a refrigerant which is formed along an axial direction of the rotating electric machine by an outer peripheral portion of the rotating electric machine and an inner peripheral portion of the case, a specific portion 50 which is formed along the axial direction at a lower position of the pathway portion in a peripheral direction of the rotating electric machine in a state mounted on the vehicle and in which a gap between the outer peripheral portion of the rotating electric machine and the inner peripheral portion of the case is smaller than a gap of the pathway portion, a supply pathway 22 which is connected to the pathway portion, and a supply means 21 which supplies the refrigerant to the supply pathway.
