Provided is a magnetic recording/reproduction device which can appropriately supply a lubricant to a thin metal film type magnetic tape (1) containing no binder, even when continuously performing recording/reproduction by using the magnetic tape (1) for a long time. The magnetic recording/reproduction device includes a lubricant supply means (10) which can supply a lubricant to the magnetic tape (1) when recording/reproduction is performed to/from the magnetic tape (1) by a magnetic head (2). With this configuration, the lubricant supply means can appropriately supply a lubricant even to the magnetic tape (1) used in a magnetic recording/reproduction device which should be continuously operated for a long time for recording or reproduction.
