<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing of an electrode catalyst for a fuel cell, in which the catalyst activity of a precious metal-transition metal alloy catalyst is improved, which is manufactured in a process, in which a precious metal composition, a transition metal composition and polyol are dissolved in a solvent and amine and carboxylic acid are added to the solution, a conductive carrier and an organic solvent are added, after reflux, and a polyol reduction reaction is conducted to compose the precious metal-transition metal alloy catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacaturing of an electrode catalyst for a fuel cell includes a process in which a precious metal composition, a transition metal composition and polyol are dissolved in a solvent, and amine and carboxylic acid are added to the solution; and after reflux a conductive carrier and an organic solvent are added to remove a protective colloid, created during a polyol reduction reaction and a catalyst composition is carried on the conductive carrier and is cleaned and dried and heat-treated under a reducing atmosphere.
