OPTICAL ISOLATOR AND TRANSLUCENT REFLECTING TYPE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical isolator, preventing lowering of optical loss in translucent reflecting type liquid crystal display.

SOLUTION: The optical isolator includes: a glass substrate 31 having a first incident end face 31a where illuminating light formed of non-polarization component enters, and a second incident end face 31b formed on the back of the first incident end face 31a where light of linear polarization component in a specified direction enters; and a polarizer 32 arrayed in the glass substrate 31, wherein the polarizer 32 includes an annular structure 41 connecting both ends of a metallic fine line and one or more metal fine lines 42 extending from the annular structure 41 toward the second incident end face 31b with the tip 43 bent substantially parallel to the specific direction.
