PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a road guidance display device and a road guidance display method capable of reducing the burden on a driver viewing a road guidance information by improving the difficulty in viewing when a foreground peripheral area image and the road guidance information are displayed superimposed. SOLUTION: The road guidance display device includes: a peripheral area-image taking camera 107 for taking an image of the foreground of the traveling direction of a vehicle as a peripheral area image; a display device 112 for displaying the peripheral area-image, a vehicle position detection part 102 for detecting the present position of the vehicle; a map database 104 for storing the connecting relation of the roads, wherein a route searching part 103 searches a route ahead based on the database 104 in accordance with an operator's instruction and the present position of the vehicle, and a route image composition part 111 superimposes a route picture on the part corresponding to the sky out of the display images of the display device 112.
