PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a RAID system which scarcely affects a host system during detecting or restoring error, and to provide a method for restoring an error sector. SOLUTION: Hard disks 310 are respectively provided with: a means for detecting a restoration-impossible error sector in a device; a means for transmitting error information to an RAID controller 200 when detecting the restoration-impossible error sector; a means for detecting a restoration-possible error sector in the device; and a means for restoring the error sector when the restoration-possible error sector is detected. The RAID controller 200 includes a means for making a hard disk 310 restore an error sector shown by error information by using data stored in another hard disk 310 in receiving the error information transmitted by the hard disk 310.
