<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of enhancing safety for a human eye to enhance an output of a light source, and capable of brightening a projection image. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A projector 1A includes an upper casing 11 having the first main plane 11P, a lower casing 12 having the second main plane 12P opposed to the first main plane 11P, a displacement mechanism for displacing the upper casing 11, to form a gap GP between the first main plane 11P and the second main plane 12P, and a projection part 14 for emitting a light emitted from the light source, to the gap, as a projection light LF, and the projection light LF is output from the projector 1A through the gap. The safety for the human eye is enhanced because the projector 1A of this manner can secure a prescribed distance from the light source until output from the projector 1A, and the projection image is thereby brightened.
