PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cycloolefin addition polymer which uses a cycloolefin-functional siloxane as a monomer and has both functions of polycycloolefin and siloxane, and to provide a production method of the cycloolefin addition polymer. SOLUTION: The cycloolefin addition polymer is obtained by additionally polymerizing the cycloolefin-functional siloxane represented by the formula (1), wherein R<SP>1</SP>are monovalent organic groups having no aliphatic unsaturated bonds, which are equal to each other or are different from each other, s denotes an integer of 0 to 2 and j denotes 0 or 1. According to the invention, by using the cycloolefin-functional siloxane as the monomer, the cycloolefin addition polymer excellent in transparency, heat resistance, solubility into organic solvent and polysiloxane solvent, storage stability and handleability can be obtained.
