<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of capturing moving images of high image quality. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: an imaging element drive part 10 for driving a solid state imaging element 5 including a first photoelectric conversion element group comprising a photoelectric conversion element 51R for detecting R light, a photoelectric conversion element 51G for detecting G light, and a photoelectric conversion element 51B for detecting B light and a second photoelectric conversion element group comprising a photoelectric conversion element 51W for detecting the R light, the G light and the B light, by alternately repeating the field of reading signals only from the first photoelectric conversion element group and the field of reading the signals only from the second photoelectric conversion element group for each frame period when capturing the moving images; a field composition part 19 for combining the signals obtained in the field executed in an optional frame period and the signals obtained in the field immediately before the field; and a digital signal processing part 17 for generating a frame corresponding to the optional frame period on the basis of the combined signals.
