PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of lightening load on a user and load on a main body by controlling operation to be performed in recovery in accordance with a cut-off condition of a power supply. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a modular jack 109 supplying AC power, a power supply unit 100 converting the supplied AC power to DC power, and a power supply switch 104 cutting off the AC power to be supplied to the power supply unit 100. Further, the image forming apparatus includes a power supply switch monitoring switch 110 monitoring the on/off state of the power supply switch 104 and outputting a switch monitoring signal; and a power supply monitoring circuit 103 monitoring the supply state of the AC power to the power supply unit 100 and outputting a power supply monitoring signal. A control unit 111 stores the state of the switch monitoring signal in a non-volatile memory 108 before supply of the DC power from the power supply unit 100 is stopped on the basis of the power supply monitoring signal, and the operation to be performed in the recovery is controlled on the basis of the information held in the non-volatile memory 108 when the supply of the DC power is restarted.
