<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner capable of efficiently eliminating mosquitoes and cleaning air by comprising a means for intercepting mosquitoes intruding into a room with pollen, dust and the like, in the air cleaner for cleaning contaminated air including a contaminant such as dust and smoke floating in an indoor space. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This air cleaner provided with a first air trunk 28 passing through a dust collecting filter 7 and a deodorizing filter 8 as air cleaning means, and a second air trunk 29 not having the air cleaning means comprises a detecting sensor 10 for detecting mosquitoes, and a gas generating device 9 for eliminating the detected mosquitoes, and a slide board 13 is moved when the detecting sensor 10 detects mosquitoes, so that the air trunk is switched to the second air trunk 29 to perform control to diffuse gas, and thus the air cleaner capable of making air cleaning and the repelling of mosquitoes compatible can be provided.
