<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber relaxing the influence of inertia moment and easily securing a stroke length while saving electric power. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The shock absorber provided with a motion conversion mechanism T converting rotary motion to linear motion, and a motor M driving and rotating a rotary member 1 of the motion conversion mechanism T. A shaft 10 of the motor M is provided with a cylindrical body 10a and a flange 10b projecting to an inner circumference side of the cylindrical body 10a. The rotary member 1 is provided with a rod 10a inserted through an inner circumference of the flange 10b. A belleville spring 4 generating an energizing force between the flange 10b and a nut 6 screwed on a tip of the rod 10a and generating a friction force making the shaft 10 and the rotary member 1 relatively rotate is installed therebetween. When relative torque reaches a prescribed value or higher, a slip between the shaft 10 and the rotary member 1 is generated to allow the relative rotation of the shaft 1 and the rotary member 10.
