A machine for grouping packs (100) comprising: a sliding work plane (40) for advancing in sequence at least a consecutive and equidistanced row of packs (100) along a predetermined advancing direction (A) and means for retaining (50, 51) for cyclically braking the advancing of one of the packs (100) of the row with respect to the sliding work plane (40), the means for retaining comprising at least a striker body (50, 51) and means for moving (52, 53) for cyclically locating the striker body (50, 51) closed to a pack 8100) advancing on the work plane, such that the striker body (50, 51) receives the pack (100) in contact there-with, preventing the pack (100) from advancing at a same speed as a previous speed thereof on the work plane (40).
