The component has two substrates (1, 2) i.e. glass substrates, and a radiation-emitting element (4) i.e. organic LED, containing an organic material and arranged on the substrate (1). The substrates are arranged relative to each other such that the element is arranged between the substrates. A connecting material (3) is located between the substrates for enclosing the element and for mechanically connecting the substrates with each other. The connecting material has ferromagnetic particles, and is softened by inductive heating for mechanically connecting the substrates. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a component.
