A system and a method for serving a calling bell for a mobile communication supplementary service are provided to reduce a mass storage space significantly for storing bell sound sources in a mobile communication provider party and reduce the fee of a portable terminal by downloading a small capacity of bell sound source in each portable phone user party. A calling portable terminal(710) requests the server of a mobile communication provider(500) to provide a calling bell for a mobile communication supplementary service and sets a bell sound source. The server of the mobile communication provider preferentially transmits the set bell sound source to a called portable terminal(730) when the authenticated calling portable terminal makes a call with an arbitrary called portable terminal through a mobile communication network(600). The bell sound source transmitted from the called portable terminal is reproduced as a called bell sound. |
