<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent the increase in transmission loss due to damages of an optical fiber core wire caused by oviposition behaviors of bear cicadas. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An optical fiber cable 10 includes the optical fiber core wire 1, two tension members 3 disposed on both sides of the optical fiber core wire 1 and in parallel with the optical fiber core wire 1, and a sheath 2 covering the optical fiber core wire 1 and the tension members 3 as one body. The sheath 2 has a double layered structure having a low-hardness sheath 22 being an inner layer and a high-hardness sheath 12 being an outer layer, and the high-hardness sheath 12 has a Shore D hardness of ≥55 and has a thickness of ≥0.3 mm. The increase in transmission loss is prevented by the high-hardness sheath 12, and the flexural rigidity of the optical fiber cable is suppressed by the low-hardness sheath 22, so that workability during construction is improved.
