PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device for an endoscope suited for the reduction of cost or constitutional simplification while achieving the certain stoppage and holding of a light source at a predetermined position. SOLUTION: The light source device for the endoscope includes a housing, a plurality of light sources for emitting illumination light, a light source holding part which holds a plurality of the light sources and is supported with respect to the housing in a freely movable manner, a light guide part for guiding the illumination light of the light source coinciding with an optical axis out of a plurality of the light sources to the endoscope, a drive part for moving the light source holding part with respect to the light guide part, and a magnet and a magnetic member both of which are respectively the magnet provided to either one of the light source holding part and the housing and the magnetic member provided to the other one of them, attracted by each other at the time of approach to stop the movement of the light source holding part and hold one of a plurality of the light sources at a position where the light guide part coincides with the optical axis.
