<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for color image data acquisition based on human color perception. Ž<P>SOLUTION: First color component image data in a first color component region is received from a first sensor having a first sensor area. Second color component image data in a second color component region is then received from a second sensor having a sensor area greater than that of the first sensor area, according to a distribution of human eye color receptors corresponding to the first color component region and the second color component region. Third color component image data in a third color component region is then received from a third sensor having a sensor area greater than that of the first and second sensor areas, according to a distribution of human eye color receptors corresponding to the first, second and third color component regions.
