<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle rear view monitor not causing trouble to an occupant while widening the range of a visual field. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This vehicle rear view monitor has a mirror 3 which visually recognizes the rear dead corner of the vehicle by the occupant and is provided with: a general mirror surface 4 for visually recognizing the normal area of the rear dead corner; and a specific mirror surface 5 having a radius of curvature smaller than that of the general mirror surface 4. The monitor also includes: a light control element 6 switching to any one of a visible state visually recognizing the rear through the specific mirror surface 5 and an invisible state not visually recognizing the rear through the specific mirror surface 5; and a control means switching the light control element 6 to the visible state or the invisible state based on a result detected by a detection means detecting a vehicle state.
