PURPOSE: A VOD transceiving system using the transport stream division and a method thereof are provided to transceive viewable VOD in real time by quickly performing the switching from a multicast mode to a multicast mode. CONSTITUTION: A VOD transceiving method using the transport stream division comprises the following steps of: setting up a division coefficient for division of a transport stream(S1210); dividing the transport stream into unicast segments or multicast segments according to the set division coefficient(S1220); transmitting the unicast segments based on the unicast method and the multicast segments based on the multicast method(S1230,S1240); and extracting the number of bytes in the whole transport stream.
