PURPOSE: A talking pencil sharpener with a speaker is provided to output melody and voice when children sharpen a pencil to rouse the children's interests in sharpening a pencil. CONSTITUTION: A talking pencil sharpener with a speaker comprises the following units. A pencil insertion sensor(41) is located near a chucking body(34) and senses whether or not a pencil is inserted. A pencil sharpening sensor(42) is positioned near the pencil sharpener body(20) and senses whether or not a rotary cutter rotates. A controller is electrically connected to the pencil insertion sensor and pencil sharpening sensor, and reads sensing signals to recall stored voice or melody. A speaker(60) is electrically connected to the controller, and outputs the recalled voice and melody.
