<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion image coding apparatus capable of performing coding processings at a high speed. <P>SOLUTION: The motion image coding apparatus 10 for coding a motion image is provided with a first processor 102, a second processor 106, a main memory 110, a main memory control means 104, and a local memory 1060 directly accessible from the second processor 106. The first processor 102 performs first processing, in which a calculation quantity required for processing is smaller than a predetermined calculation quantity, from among the coding processings, referring to the information to be stored in the main memory 110 via the means 104.
