摘要 |

A process for the froth flotation concentration of ores, particularly oxidized ores, is characterized by the conjoint employment as flotation agents of an organic thio-derivative, e.g. a xanthate or dithio-carbamate, a fatty acid, e.g. oleic acid or other higher fatty acid, or an alkali salt thereof and a deflocculating agent, e.g. sodium silicate or silicic acid sol. The organic thio-derivative may be any organic substance in which carbon is united with sulphur by a double bond, with or without a further sulphur atom linked to the carbon atom. The fatty acid may be added to the ore pulp in the grinding mill and the thio-derivative added later, for example immediately prior to flotation. Examples are given of the treatment of an oxidized copper ore containing copper silicate, the flotation agents being sodium silicate, oleic acid, and potassium ethyl xanthate, and of the treatment of a cassiterite ore using soda ash, oleic acid, and potassium ethyl xanthate, and reference is made to the treatment of ores containing malachite and cuprite. Specification 294,921, [Class 82 (ii), Washing granular &c.], is referred to.
|
