350,308. Swash-plate mechanism. HULSEBOS, W., Laren, Hilversum, Holland. July 25, 1930, No. 22438. Convention date, Aug. 27, 1929. [Class 80 (iii).] In non-rotary swash-plate mechanism for engines having cylinders parallel to the crank shaft, the connection between the piston rod 1 and the wabbler 8 comprises slippers 11, 12 bounded on both sides by plane surfaces and engaging on one side, plane bearing surfaces 3, 5 rigid with the piston rod, and on the other ball or conical members 9, 10 fixed to the wabbler. The slippers are universally connected to the wabbler by a ball-andsocket connection 14, the engaging surfaces of which may be spherical or conical. The end bearing plate 5 is axially screw adjustable and is locked by a set-screw 6 which nips up a saw-cut in the plate. The wabbler drives or is driven through an inclined crank 15. In a modification, the members 9, 10 have conical surfaces lying against the plane surfaces of the slippers, the socket 13 is omitted and universal connection is by a small ball protruding from the centre of the member 9 into a recess in the slipper. |
