The method involves defining a sub-search window having less width, and comparing maximum energy value of an energy carrier with a threshold, where the carrier corresponds to a selected time position of the window. The carrier is combined with another energy carrier obtained previously for the window, if the maximum value is below the threshold. The maximum value of the other carrier is compared with the threshold. Comparison and combination steps are repeated for the window until the maximum value remains less than that threshold and/or maximum number of chosen iterations is not reached. An independent claim is also included for a device for searching synchronization with radio communication equipment for a target base station of a radio communication network.
