Disclosed is a method for producing a polyester-polycarbonate type thermoplastic polyester elastomer wherein a hard segment composed of a polyester made from an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and an aliphatic or alicyclic diol and a soft segment mainly composed of an aliphatic polycarbonate are bound together. This method for producing a polyester-polycarbonate type thermoplastic polyester elastomer comprises a step for increasing the molecular weight of an aliphatic polycarbonate diol by a reaction between at least an aliphatic polycarbonate diol and a chain extender, and a step for reacting the aliphatic polycarbonate diol increased in the molecular weight with a polyester made from an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and an aliphatic or alicyclic diol in a molten state.
