The method involves contactlessly storing data into a passive transponder of a dosing device using a writing device. The data are contactlessly read out from the transponder using a reading device. Production-related specific data e.g. article number or serial number, of the dosing device is stored into the transponder using the writing device. Application-related specific data e.g. sales data or maintenance and/or repair data, of the dosing device is stored into the transponder using the writing device. The transponder is encapsulated in the dosing device. An independent claim is also included for a dosing device for performing a method of handling data of a dosing device.
