PURPOSE: A method for processing an audio signal is provided to control the level of an output channel of an object, easily. CONSTITUTION: A method for processing an audio signal comprises a step of receiving a down-mix signal which includes at least one or more objects and object information which includes an object gain and an object gain rate or data type information. The object gain shows a gain applied to the object included in the down-mix signal. The object gain rate shows the difference between gains of the objects included in two or more channels of the down-mix signal. The data type information shows the type of data included in an extended area of the object information.
