A method of managing a data cache comprises identifying a parent object to be included in the cache. At least one child object related to the parent object is also identified and included in the data cache with the parent. The parent and child objects may be related by a hierarchy. The child objects may comprise further grandchild objects. Also disclosed is a method of managing a cache, comprising identifying an object to be deleted from a cache, identifying related child objects and deleting the parent and child objects. The invention may be used in a mobile communications device.
