<p>A safety valve assembly 10 comprises a valve body 11, a flapper mount 12, flapper 20 and a hinge 16 used to rotate the flapper 20 in an opened or closed position. Torsional pins 22 are mounted adjacent the flapper mount 20, each having ends which extend into the hinge 16 and terminating adjacent each other at a location along the hinge 16. Torsional springs 38 are circumferentially mounted around the torsional pins 22. Tabs 42 extend from the torsional springs and contact an actuation member 45 extending over the top of the flapper 20. As such, the torque created by the torsional springs 38 is transferred to the actuation member 45 via the tabs 42, thereby reducing the stress on the torsional springs 38.</p> |
