<p>An apparatus (10b) is provided for feeding and slitting mattress covers, quilts and other soft goods supported on a table (12). The apparatus (10b) has a first slitting wheel (26) rotatable by a motor (18). A second slitting wheel (40) is rotatable by the motor (18) and contacts the first slitting wheel (26) to provide a cutting action. The apparatus (10b) further includes a conveyor (22) operable by the motor (18) for conveying the soft goods (14) past the slitting wheels (26, 40), and a compression assembly (110b) having an actuator (112), a gear housing (174), and powered wheels (184) for compressing the soft goods (14) and holding the soft goods (14) against the conveyor (22) to preventing slippage or twisting.</p> |
