FIELD: physics. ^ SUBSTANCE: method of taking measurements, related to an underground layer, involves automatic compression of measurement data with variable compression ratio when taking measurements. Variable compression ratios contain a combination of lossless compression and lossy compression. Said compression ratios are varied depending on external limitations on the measurement process, and the external limitations can be one or more of: logging speed, boring speed, volume of data, falling on a distance.
