PURPOSE: A digital image processing apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to reduce power consumption and improve user's convenience. CONSTITUTION: A digital image processing apparatus comprises a display unit(113), a user input unit(121), a photographing unit(123), an image processing unit(125), a storage unit(127), a GPS information receiving unit(131), a shaking compensation unit(133), a location control unit(135), and a digital image processing unit(139). The digital image processing unit determines the moved state of the digital image processing apparatus by using location information received by a GPS information receiving unit, and then controls the operation of the shaking compensation unit based on the determined result.
