SYSTEM FOR MAKING INCISIONS FOR SCLERAL EYE IMPLANTS

A system and method is disclosed for making incisions in the sclera (102) of an eye (100) to form a scleral pocket (120) to receive a scleral prosthesis (200). The system and method comprises a surgical tool (1100) comprising a surgical blade (1140) for making incisions in the sclera (102) of an eye (100). When a surgeon places the surgical blade (1140) on the sclera (102) o f the eye (100) a pressure sensor (2560) in the surgical tool (1100) determine s whether there is sufficient pressure between the surgical tool (1100) and th e sclera (102) of the eye (300) for the surgical tool (1100) to operate properly. The surgeon activates the surgical tool (1100) to cause the surgic al blade (1140) to advance through the sclera (102) to form an incision having dimensions to receive a scleral prosthesis (200). When the incision is complete the surgical blade (1140) is rotated back out of the incision. The incision has the exact dimensions to receive a scleral prosthesis (200).
