PURPOSE: A cathode active material for lithium secondary battery and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to prevent structure change and improve structural stability. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing a cathode active material for lithium secondary battery comprises: a step of uniformly mixing lithium composite, cobalt oxide, metal oxide (or metal hydroxide) and fluoride (S100); a step of heating the mixture; and a step of synthesizing lithium cobalt complex oxide (S120).
