PURPOSE: An apparatus about a call process in a data communication mode of a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to prevent the consumable current increment of the portable terminal without passing through the switch. CONSTITUTION: A portable terminal includes an RF receiver(240), a first radio frequency switcth, a second radio frequency switch, and a controller(255). The RF receiver includes a first input terminal connected to the first receiving paths and a second input terminal connected to the second receiving paths. The first radio frequency switcth is located in the first receiving paths. The first radio frequency switcth connects switching the inputted radio frequency signal in the first input terminal or the second receiving paths. The second radio frequency switch is located in the second receiving paths. The second radio frequency switch connects to the second input terminal.
