The method involves locating angular positions of crankshafts (50, 54) of the thermal engines (52, 56) on 720 degree cycle by locating angular positions of camshafts (51, 53) of the engines. The angular position of the crankshaft (50) of the thermal engine (52) is adjusted with respect to the angular position of the crankshaft (54) of the thermal engine (56). The crankshaft (50) of the thermal engine (52) is coupled to the crankshaft (54) of the thermal engine (56) when difference between angular positions of the crankshafts is lower than a predetermined value. An independent claim is also included for a U shape engine.
