<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately use up battery capacity while ensuring safety against overdischarge. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A battery pack includes a state detecting part 3 detecting battery voltage, a switching means 1 arranged between a positive electrode and a positive terminal of a battery pack, a control part C opening and closing the switching means 1 based on the output of the state detecting part, and a switching means 2 arranged on a power supply passage from the positive electrode of the battery pack to the control part. The control part turns on the switching means 2 which is usually turned off by drop in battery voltage detected with the state detecting part, and then turns off the switching means 1 which is usually turned on to shut off a discharge path. Even if the discharge path is shut off in order to prevent overdischarge by drop of battery voltage, the control part continues to monitor the battery voltage since power is supplied through the switching means 2.
