<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform defrosting only by mechanical defrosting by reducing frost fixing strength to fins and a heat transfer tube. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This refrigerating device which includes a compressor 1, a use-side heat exchanger 2, a pressure reducing mechanism 3 and a heat source-side heat exchanger 4, and in which the heat source-side heat exchanger 4 is composed of a number of fins arranged in parallel with each other at prescribed intervals, and the heat transfer tube penetrating through the fins, includes a mechanical defrosting means X for mechanically removing the frost attached to the heat source-side heat exchanger 4 by adding external force, and an operation is controlled so that an evaporative saturation temperature in the heat source-side heat exchanger 4 becomes less than a prescribed value in a heating operation, thus temperatures of the fins and the heat transfer tube constituting the heat source-side heat exchanger 4 are lowered (that is, a condition roughly same as that in a case when the outside air temperature is low, is provided).
