<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold a cleaning member in a fixed position, prior to the start of cleaning and to surely make the cleaning member operate during cleaning, when a cartridge is inserted. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes the detachable cartridge 7 that can be inserted and extracted in the direction of the rotation axis of a photoreceptor drum, an optical unit 3 that has a long cover glass 31, through which light emitted toward the photoreceptor drum passes, the cleaning member 20 that can move along the longitudinal direction of the cover glass 31, disposed so as to substantially coincides with the direction of the axis of rotation of the photoreceptor drum in order to clean the cover glass 31. The image forming apparatus has a locking mechanism (locking member 40, engaging hole 29a, and lock energizing means 41), such that during the insertion of the cartridge 7, the cleaning member 20 is engaged with the cartridge 7, and moves from a cleaning start position to a cleaning end position along the longitudinal direction of the cover glass 31 to perform cleaning, and before the insertion of the cartridge, the cleaning member 20 is held in the cleaning start position and the movement of the cleaning member 20 along the longitudinal direction of the cover glass 31 is restricted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
