<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus which generates neither moire nor uneven coloring even if hatching lines are displayed to be superimposed on an image including a color, the image has a line structure, or the image does not have a line structure but has directivity just like a screen subjected to dither processing. <P>SOLUTION: When analyzing image data of a print object to extract a region including an image of a predetermined color, and then forming hatching with superimposing on the extracted region, the apparatus analyzes the dot structure of the region extracted by a specific color region extraction means, and determines the type and direction of hatching lines to be superimposed on the region according to the analyzed dot structure.
