<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting mastitis that detects, in addition to normal mastitis, mastitis in an initial stage of infection and latent mastitis that cannot be recognized apparently, by extracting a milk sample from a milking inline and automatically measuring and diagnosing it in a short time in daily milking operation. <P>SOLUTION: A predetermined quantity of hydrogen oxide is supplied to milk and the hydrogen peroxide eliminating ability of the milk is detected by an electrochemical method or a chemical acid/alkali reaction measurement.
