<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a power conversion device with a converter circuit and an inverter circuit, having an arrangement in which the output of the inverter circuit can be controlled with better precision than when only the current level is controlled, thereby achieving improved operating efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: A current sensor (17) senses the input current of the inverter circuit (3) and a voltage sensor (15) senses the input voltage of the inverter circuit (3). A power value computing part (33) in the inverter microcomputer (30) finds the power value from the input current and input voltage.
