<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particulate filter for suppressing the condition of excessively raising the temperature of the particulate filter during re-generating treatment of the particulate filter. <P>SOLUTION: The particulate filter comprises a plurality of flow-in side cells having sealed downstream side end faces in the flowing direction of exhaust gas, a plurality of flow-out side cells having sealed upstream side end faces in the flowing direction of exhaust gas, and cell walls 3 having distribution holes in which exhaust gas flows, for defining the flow-in side cells and the flow-out side cells, wherein the opening area of each of the flow-in side cells is larger than the opening area of each of the flow-out side cells. In a recessed portion 8a of each of the cell walls to form the distribution holes, a catalyst material 9 is filled for accelerating the combustion of particulates in exhaust gas. On the other portion 8b than the recessed portion of each of the cell walls to form the distribution holes, a catalyst material is supported in the state that it is thinner than the catalyst material filled in the recessed portion of each of the cell walls or that it is scattered. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
