PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide 6-O-methylerythromycin A crystal form II, and to provide a method for the production thereof. SOLUTION: The crystal form II can be directly isolated by (a) converting erythromycin A into 6-O-methylerythromycin A; and (b) recrystallizing the 6-O-methylerythromycin A produced in the step (a), by using a number of common organic solvents or a mixture of the common organic solvents, other than conventionally used solvents such as ethanol, tetrahydrofuran, isopropanol and isopropyl acetate.
