<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejection head capable of attaining a sufficient ejection weight and an ejection velocity when liquid having a high viscosity is used. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This liquid ejection device includes a control means for supplying a drive signal SD to a pressure generation means. The control means applies a voltage having a predetermined intermediate potential A to the pressure generation means by means of the drive signal so as to pull liquid into a pressure generation chamber and maintains this state for a predetermined time period. Succeeding to the above, the control means applies a voltage having a potential that rises up to its maximum potential within a time period Twc1 to the pressure generation chamber so as to further pull the liquid in the pressure generation chamber and maintains this state for a predetermined time period. After that, the control means applies a voltage having a potential that lowers to its minimum potential lower than the intermediate potential within a time period Twc2 to the pressure generation chamber so as to eject liquid via a nozzle opening. In the drive signal, the time period Twc1 is made to be shorter than the time period Twd2, and the intermediate potential is made to be lower than 50% of a different potential Vh between the minimum voltage and the maximum potential.
