<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium capable of surely compatibly achieving head wear reduction and excellent durability, in a high density magnetic recording and reproducing system using an MR head as a reproduction head. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium has ferromagnetic powder, a binder, and a magnetic layer containing non-magnetic powder in this order on a non-magnetic support.
