<p>A method for detection of pre-scuffing events in a large multicylinder two-stroke diesel engine by recognizing the characteristic temperature fluctuations of pre-scuffing events on the basis of information from at least two different cylinder related temperatures. The cylinder related temperatures are taken at different positions and may relate to different media.</p>
