<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promptly reduce concentration of gas leaking in the package to a safe level. <P>SOLUTION: In a fuel cell device which generates power in a package 33 by electrochemical reaction of a fuel gas and an oxidizer gas, when a gas detection sensor 34 for detecting the gas concentration in the package detects a gas having an established concentration or more, operation of the device is shut down and a ventilation port 50 for ventilating inside the package is closed. Accordingly, when the gas detection sensor detects gas with an established concentration or more, the operation of the device is immediately shut down and leakage of the gas further more is prevented, and the ventilation port 50 for ventilating inside the package is closed.
